Does everyone know what "strata" is?? It is when strips of fabric are stitched to each other to create new units. You will be making lots of strata for this mystery. Due to the large amount of seams you will be creating, it is very important that you measure each set of strata as you add strips...even 1/32" off on each seam will make your blocks out of size.

Step	Directions
1	Using 2 complete strips and 1 10" section of Light and 4 complete strips and 2 10" sections of Medium...attach Medium strips to either side of Light strips...press seams toward Medium fabric. (Diagram 2.1)
2	Check measurement across strata in multiple places...should be 6-1/2" wide.
3	Using 4 complete strips and 2 10" section of Dark...attach to either side of units from step#1...press seams toward Dark fabric. (Diagram 2.2)
4	Check measurement across strata in multiple places...should be 10-1/2" wide.
5	Cut strata from step#3 into 36 2-1/2" units...set aside and mark as Section A .
6	Using 2 complete strips and 1 10" section of Medium and 4 complete strips and 2 10" sections of Dark...attach Dark strips to either side of Medium strips...press seams toward Medium fabric. (Diagram 2.3)
7	Check measurement across strata in multiple places...should be 6-1/2" wide.
8	Using 4 complete strips and 2 10" section of Medium...attach to either side of units from step#6...press seams toward Dark fabric. (Diagram 2.4)
9	Check measurement across strata in multiple places...should be 10-1/2" wide.
10	Cut strata from step#8 into 36 2-1/2" units...set aside and mark as Section B .
