Windblown Square
This block is to be made "scrappy". You will only need 2 fabrics to complete the block - a dark solid, or tone on tone, and a white print. I thought about making this block 8" finished, but I hate doing triangles that small, so....let's do it anyway!
NOTE: I will be giving the half-square triangles a bit larger cut as I have heard from some folks that they are having the same trouble I have getting them the exact right size...then have you square them up. If you can do this unit cutting as recommended...and I envy you if you can...subtract 1/8" from cutting size.

Sample Quilt Layouts

You need to cut 8 3" squares from each fabric.

Sewing Instructions:

On the wrong of the 3" squares of Light fabric, mark a diagonal line; match these squares up with right side of the Dark Fabric; stitch 1/4" on either side of the diagonal line; cut apart on the diagonal line..press seam toward Dark fabric. Square up to 2-1/2".
Making 2 rows...join 4 HSTs together as shown, pressing seams in direction of arrows.
Making 2 rows...join 4 HSTs together as shown, pressing seams in direction of arrows.
Making 2 units...join a row from step#2 and step#3 together as shown, pressing seams either way.
Join units from step#4 together to create the Windblown Square block as shown below.
IMPORTANT: Please square up your finished block to be sure it is 8-1/2". If it is larger or smaller, check your seams and redo if necessary. If you do not check your measurements, your block may not join properly with other blocks easily to create a finished quilt.
