Sample Quilt Layouts

Cut as follows:

Fabric	Cutting Information
Background (Bkg)	Cut 1 4-1/2" square Cut 8 3-1/2" squares
Medium (Med)	Cut 1 4-1/2" square Cut 8 3-1/2" squares

Sewing Instructions:

1. Mark the diagonal on the wrong side of the 4-1/2" square of Bkg.
2. Matching right sides of marked squares together with the 4-1/2" square of medium; stitch 1/4" on both sides of diagonal mark; cut apart on diagonal mark; press open toward medium; mark diagonal across the seam of one of the new units; match right sides together with fabrics opposite and seams "butt" together; stitch 1/4" on both sides of diagonal mark; cut apart on diagonal mark; press toward either side...square up to 3-1/2". You should have 2 QSTs.
   
3. Attach a 3-1/2" square of Bkg to the Bkg sides of the QSTs...press toward Bkg squares.
   
4. Creating 4 rows...attach a 3-1/2" square of Medium to opposite sides of Bkg...press toward Bkg.
   
5. Attach a row from step#4 to opposite sides of a row from step#3...press toward outer rows.
6. IMPORTANT: Please square up your finished block to be sure it is 9-1/2". If it is larger or smaller, check your seams and redo if necessary. If you do not check your measurements, your block may not join properly with other blocks easily to create a finished quilt.
