Maple Leaf
This block is for autumn. You will need two fabrics: an offwhite tone-on-tone for the background and a medium/dark in autumn colors such as burnt orange, red, and gold, for the leaves. We will be making this one 9" finished.

Sample Quilt Layouts
You need to cut as follows:
- Bkg: cut 2 4" squares; cut 1 3-1/2" square; cut 1 4-1/2" square
- Medium/Dark: cut 2 4" squares; cut 3 3-1/2" squares; cut 1 1"x7" strip
Sewing Instructions:
- To make the leaf points, mark diagonal on both 4" offwhite squares; place right sides together with the medium/dark and stitch 1/4" on either side of diagonal mark; cut between stitching; press toward medium/dark fabric; square up to 3-1/2".
- Cut 4-1/2" offwhite in half on the diagonal; stitch the 1"x7" medium/dark between the two halves of WOW; press both seams toward stem; square up unit to 3-1/2".
- Attaching Stem to one side and HST to opposite side of a 3-1/2" square of medium/dark, create top row...press as arrows direct.
- Attaching 3-1/2" square of medium/dark to one side and HST to opposite side of a 3-1/2" square of medium/dark, create top row...press as arrows direct.
- Attaching 3-1/2" square of Bkg to one side and HST to opposite side of an HST, create top row...press as arrows direct.
- Join 3 rows to create block...press as desired.
- IMPORTANT: Please square up your finished block to be sure it is 9-1/2". If it is larger or smaller, check your seams and redo if necessary. If you do not check your measurements, your block may not join properly with other blocks easily to create a finished quilt.
